So much talk about the way it was
When life was everything it should be
Endless summers when everyday was spent
Living the lie you call your memories
It's like a man should worship his past
His future is a place to fear
And as for the here and now
Who's aware of it anyhow
Until the end is near?
I don't wanna waste my days
Fearing every twist of fate
Looking back along the path I took
At happiness that I just can't recreate
When your finest hour has passed
And time becomes a thorn in your side
You act without purpose
But like a military man
You wear your moment with pride
Could it be that there is more to come?
That life will afford you more gold?
Because in the here and now
You don't have to make the vows
That eased you when your heart grew old
Trodden ground is safe but baron
The pitfalls lay undisguised
Treasure already discovered
Won't fulfil the longing there is in your eyes
