Before Our Eyes
© ian parker - march 2005
It's like a story I heard as a child
Weeping women crushed and denied
Could this really be happening before our eyes?
Are you their master in some biblical sense
Choose right or wrong cos' there isn't a fence
Tell me that you won't deny them before the cock crows
Don't allow the overfeds
To corrupt your empty heads
With porky pies, they modernise, and fraternise, and terrorise
Before our eyes
Shamelessly selfish you refuse to say
Whether or not you can see past today
The future you're making is certain to expose your past
Proud words hang like the leaves of an oak
Chlorophyll green until raped they must choke
Forever autumnal they crumble and fall from your hands
Say love, say it like you mean it
Feel love, feel it like they feel it
Know love before you lose all meaning
