Ain't ever had a reason
To hold myself in high regard

To feel that life is especially hard
But now and then
When sadness comes to town again
And it seems I'm on my way back down
I can't help but wonder
If just a little thunder
Might be a welcome sound
You could say
It's been too long
Since anger rushed through my veins
'cos there's being strong
But denial sure goes some way
Towards keeping you sane
Dragging my soul through the dirt
Bowing down to conmen and hypocrisy

Hoping for a sense of meritocracy
I'm not so naïve
But take a look at my sleeve
That's where you'll find my heart
I can't help but wonder
If just another blunder
Might send me back to the start
I wanna be true
And I wanna be blue
Integrity comes at a cost
I wanna get high
I wanna blindfold my eyes
And see if I can get myself just a little lost
